Duplicating products and records

Learn how to quickly duplicate products, customers, or vendors in ParagonERP using the copy function and modifying specific fields.

If you have products with variations, such as different colors or sizes, you can save time by copying an existing record. In ParagonERP, the copy function is available across several modules, including Customers, Vendors, and Products. This guide demonstrates the process using the Product module.

Selecting a product

  1. Open the product record you wish to duplicate.

  2. Click the copy action button at the bottom of the screen.

Example: We will copy a product to create a new version with the same properties, but changing "laurel oil" to "jasmine" in the description.

Selecting fields to exclude

In the next screen, you must specify which data should not be copied over.

  • Important: Check the boxes for the fields you want to manually change or leave blank.

  • Code: This field is checked by default. Since every product needs a unique ID, keep this checked so you can enter a new code.

  • You can also choose to exclude other specific data, such as the product image or specific attributes.

  • Click next.

Modifying fields

  1. Update the values for the fields you selected in the previous step.

  2. Warning: If you do not enter a new product code, Paragon will automatically generate one by adding _Copy_1 to the original code. This code cannot be changed later.

  3. Click finish. A notification will appear on your screen confirming that the copy has been created.

Activating the new product

  1. Open the newly created product.

    • If you cannot find it in your list, check if you have a filter active that only shows "Active" products. New copies are initially inactive.

  2. You can now modify any remaining fields, such as the description.

  3. Click the activate button to make the product live in your system.
