Creating an event from a shipment

Introduction

In some cases, businesses need to schedule deliveries of materials or products before they can begin a given job.  Service companies are perfect examples of this - plumbers, carpet cleaners and caterers; to name just a few. In ParagonERP, these businesses can create a shipment to track what needs to be delivered and how much it will all cost.

But what if they would like to determine when exactly these deliveries will be completed? In Paragon, you can create an event from shipments to keep everything in one centralized place. You can even invoice from that event.

Create a shipment

First you're going to want to create a shipment.

Create an event from the shipment

Once you've created and issued your shipment, you can now create an event from it.

First, go to any issued shipment, click the detail button to view it and click the action button at the bottom right corner to see the options available.

The option to create an event will not be available for shipments in status temp, hold or void.  Click the event button and a modal will be displayed along with a notification letting you know that a new event has been created.

Here you can enter all the appropriate information pertaining to your event such as start and end dates/times and description. The event name will be defaulted to the sequence number of the shipment from which it was created. This can be changed if needed.

Once you're done, click the accept button at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. If you decide an event should not have been created for this shipment, you can click the delete button at the bottom of the modal.  If you are satisfied with the default information for that event, you can click the red cancel button at the bottom left of the screen to close the modal.

There's no need to activate your event. Simply creating one puts it on the calendar.

You can now see the calendar event by navigating to the calendar module. Click the more tab at the bottom right hand of the screen, and click the calendar module.
