Accessing the audit trail


In Paragon, the audit trail records any data changes made in all modules. Once you access the audit trail, you can view the changes made to your transactions and reference data. Whether you added a new customer or voided an invoice - everything will be tracked in the audit trail. In this wiki we will explain to you why audit trail is a useful feature you need and show you where to access it in Paragon, what you can view there and how to find what you are looking for. 

Please note that audit trail data is only saved for six months and will be cleaned out automatically.


Why the audit trail is important

As more and more businesses use ERP systems for their daily business operations, tracking all the activities performed by the users becomes a necessity. It records all changes to the data that is in the system and helps to ensure the credibility, compliance and integrity of that data.   This means it is also a great way to analyze an error or find out when and how data was changed.  Finding out when a financial or inventory figure was changed (and by whom) could be critical to solving a ERP system mystery.

Where to find the audit trail in Paragon

Hit the settings button to access the settings menu. In the settings menu, under the section reports & data hit audit trail:



Not all users will have access to settings and audit trail as it is a part of security options by user. Speak to your system administrator if you require access to this feature.

The audit trail screen will display, where you can see all the record changes done in Paragon. You can see:
  1. the exact time and date
  2. the user who did the change
  3. the type of change
  4. what attribute was changed
  5. identifier showing which specific transaction or reference data it is related to
  6. the module in which the change was done
  7. the new value
  8. the original value



In the image above, you can see search box highlighted.  This search function in the audit trail allows you to filter the audit trail results on screen, in case you are looking for something specific. For example, changes that a specific user has made, or changes that have been done in a certain module, and so on. Just type the user, module name, or any other keyword that would help you find what you are looking for and after pressing enter your search will be narrowed down based on what you searched for.

Once you are done, press the cancel button to exit the audit trail screen and return to the settings page.
