Rules can be very powerful for getting Paragon to perform in a specific way. Knowing that your ERP system is working in line with your ever changing business processes is always nice, too.
Paragon can automatically create purchase orders based on requested products in sales orders. We have now adjusted that setup to also populate the purchase order number on the sales order lines once an automatic PO has been created.
Create a free flow text attribute to represent PO number. For more information about creating free flow attributes click here.
Add that new attribute to the order screen setup - line attributes. For more information about using screen setup click here.
Now we need to make sure that the PO number attribute we just setup is inherited from sales order lines to shipment lines. For more information about setting up attribute inheritance click here.
Make sure the automated PO creation rule has been installed on a trigger and is activated. To do this:
Navigate to the rules module from the settings screen:
Add the rules script to the after_issue_order trigger (by clicking on import and selecting the file from your directory), name the rule and activate it.
Create a sales order and issue it to see the automatic purchase order(s) created and to see that the PO Number attribute on the sales order lines is filled.
Now purchase orders were automatically created based on your sales order - and you can always see the related PO number in the attributes of each order line.
