Rules can be very powerful for getting Paragon to perform in a specific way. Knowing that your ERP system is working in line with your ever changing business processes is always nice, too.
Paragon can create receipt transactions based on sales order information. All you have to do is issue your shipment and the rest is done for you.
There are two attributes that need to be setup for this rule to work: PO Number and Transaction References. They are both free flow text attributes and can be added to the attribute panel as usual.
Now we need to add those attributes to the appropriate transactions via screen setup. In this case we will make sure the PO Number is on the Sales Order and Shipment line attributes. We also need to add Transaction References to the following more tabs: sales order, purchase order, shipment and receipts.
Now we need to make sure that the PO number attribute we just created is properly setup in attribute inheritance to copy from sales order lines to shipment lines.
Make sure the automated receipts creation rule has been installed on a trigger and is activated. To do this:
Navigate to the rules module from the settings screen:
Add the rules script to the before_issue_order trigger (by clicking on import and selecting the file from your directory), name the rule and activate it.
Now you're ready to rock and roll.
The sales order must have been used to create automatic POs already for this automation to work.
When you create your shipment, the PO numbers associated with each item will be inherited from the sales orders lines:
When you issue your shipment, receipts for those products will automatically be created based on the lines of the shipment:
Now your entire process from creating and issuing your sales orders right down to creating receipts for your goods has been automated by using rules. If you decide any of this process needs to be stopped, just deactivate the rule and you're good to go.
