A barcode is defined as a machine-readable code in the form of numbers and a pattern of parallel lines of varying widths, printed on and identifying a product. Many businesses work with scanning devices that read these barcodes. This is especially helpful with warehouse tasks such as packing, shelving and counting stock.
ParagonERP simply uses the short description of a product, material or tool to generate barcodes. This way every unique item that has been created in ParagonERP will automatically also have a barcode.
You can see the barcode linked to your item in two different places in Paragon.
The first place that you can find this is in the reports module. Click on the reports module button to get there.
Next, choose the item labels report.
Once in there, you can select the desired product and then hit the printer icon.
The barcode will look like this. Under the barcode, you will your product name (in other words the Paragon short description).
There is another place in Paragon where you could see your barcode. If you go into the receive module, create a receipt, issue it and click unpack from the action button - you will have the option to print labels.
Once you clicked unpack and added the product to be unpacked, you will need to click the printer icon to see the barcode.
You now know how barcodes are generated and where to view / print them in the system (labels report and unpacking module). What now? Should you require any other access to barcodes (other printouts or modules) feel free to contact us at support@paragon-erp.com
