Rule - Automatically generate pick tickets from sales orders

Some businesses choose to create a pick ticket as soon as they get an order and finalize it. This means that they would like to have the entire order automatically picked by default.

Even though you are able to do this manually in Paragon, such practice begs for automation. This document will show you how to setup a rule to take care of this automation. This rule joins Paragon's growing library of rules at your disposal.  As always - contact us for help setting up rules at support@paragon-erp.com.

Step 1 - The attributes

There are no special attributes that you need to setup for this rule. The system, by default, will use the addresses and the customer name from order to pick.

There is an option for you to inherit more attributes from order to pick; such as currency, terms, etc.

Step 2 - Installing the rule

To install the rule, you need to first decide at which point during your workflow you want it to be triggered.

In this example, you want the rule to be triggered immediately after a sales order is issued. Thus, select after_issue_order under trigger on.

You can use the search bar for faster access to this trigger.  Once the trigger selected, hit the edit button.

In the rule edit screen, type the rule. Give it a description and a name.

Once done, hit the accept button.

This takes you back to the rules screen. Our job now is to make sure that the rule is activated. Hit the on button to do so.

Now that the on button is checked, you're good to go.

Step 3 - Seeing the rule in action

You can now open a random order that is in temp status. Hit the action button and then hit the issue button.

Upon hitting the issue button, you should get the following blue notification:

You can now head to the pick module and verify your pick ticket.  Here you can see that the pick was created from the same order, as evidenced by the order number in the lines.

Please note that the generated picks all have the status temp. It means that the picks can still be modified manually if necessary.

What now?

So now that you have installed and activated your rule, you can always deactivate it if you need to.  If you have any other questions about rules - don't forget that you can contact us at support@paragon-erp.com.
