Rules allow you to change the behavior of the software to suit your business’ specific needs without having to change the software itself. In other words, without changing any of the main Paragon code, you can make the software understand and respond to your unique requirements and customize any part of your business workflow.
Rules can be used for many purposes:
Often when running a business, you’ll realize that there are many unnecessary steps in your process that you’d rather avoid doing. For example, whenever an invoice is generated in your system, you wish that a copy of that invoice could be e-mailed to your customer. A rule can be created so that whenever an invoice is issued, a PDF version of the invoice is e-mailed out to the address that you would have previously setup on customer’s account.
It is quite common that errors occur because of a user mistake. For example, during order entry a user added a couple of extra zeros to a discount that you’re exceptionally giving to a customer. As a result you’re giving them a $10,000 discount instead of a $100 discount (whoops). A rule can be created so that no discount may exceed $100, or the total amount of your sales order. This will stop unintentional mistakes from happening.
Let’s say that you use volume pricing. If a customer orders 100 t-shirts, the price per shirt is $10. But, if they order 200 t-shirts, the price drops by 5%. A rule can be created so that Paragon calculates the sales price per t-shirt based on the quantity ordered. This could automatically be updated on each transaction.
