Introduction
If you often have to enter multiple lines on references, such as sales orders, purchase orders, etc., being able to use the keyboard instead of the mouse, can save you a lot of entry time.
In this article we will show you how to turn on the quick grid entry function in ParagonERP and how to use it in transaction lines. We will be using the order module in our example.
Set up quick grid entry
Click on the settings button at the top right hand side of the screen. This will bring you to the settings screen.
Then, select screen setup under the system card.
Select the reference module that you want to set up for quick entry. In this case we are using order setup.
Make sure you are in edit mode and click advanced settings.
Check the option enable quick grid entry and click accept.
Using quick entry in transaction lines
We will continue to use the order module for this example.
Go to the module and add a new manual order.
Once you are in the lines section of the transaction, you do not have to click the add button at the bottom of the screen if you are using the quick entry function. Instead, just click the field under product to see your list of potential products to choose from.
You can enter the product code or a portion of the code in the field to find the specific product you are looking for.
Once you choose a product, the line will show up on your screen. If the chosen product does not have a price, your focus will go to the price field. If there is a price, you will automatically be focused on the quantity field. Fill in the price (if necessary) and the quantity required.
You can also use the tab key on your keyboard to take you through the various fields on the line that are available for modification.
In order to add the next line, click the enter key to add a new line.
Continue to add new lines to your order as necessary, and then proceed to complete your order using the standard process. Refer to our article on creating an order if you need a refresher.
What's next?
The quick grid entry option is available in the following transactions: Credit, Invoice, Material Pick, Order, Packing List, Purchase Order, Quote, Receipt, Reserve, RMA, Ship, Vendor Credit, Vendor Invoice and Work Order.
Using the instructions above, activate this option in screen setup/advanced settings for any transaction that you think could use this faster method for entering product lines.
