Using the order trail

Introduction

ERP is designed to help make enterprise life easier. As such, ParagonERP has various analysis and process verification features to help you track and trace any transaction that you create. This article will walk you through the functionality of the order trail tab on transaction modules.

Most projects begin with a sales order and move forward from there (through picking, packing, shipping, etc.). Therefore, the order trail tab will present you with sequential transaction information starting from the order stage. No matter your workflow, all related transactions will be listed.

Navigate to the order trail tab in any transaction

Open any transaction module (such as orders, invoices, or purchase orders).

Click the order trail tab to view the sequential process information for the selected transaction. The tab will list any transaction that has been associated with the one you are inquiring on.

In the screen shown above, you can see that this sales order is linked to a quote, an invoice, and a shipment. The current transaction and its ID are displayed at the top of the page for easy identification.

Understanding the order trail tab

The displayed columns are as follows:

  • Transaction Type: What kind of transaction is linked? In other words, which Paragon module was used in the transaction workflow.
  • Transaction ID: The sequence number of the related transaction. Click on the ID to navigate directly to the transaction.
  • Status: This shows the current Paragon workflow status of the related transaction.
  • Transaction Date: Date that the related transaction was created.
  • Source: Lists the originating transaction for the related ID. If the related transaction was created manually, this column will identify it as such.

Using the listed transaction IDs as shortcuts

While analyzing the information on the order trail tab, you may decide that more information is needed. Not a problem, click on the hyperlinked transaction number or ID on the screen to be immediately navigated to that transaction in inquiry mode.

Now that we are looking at the related shipment, we can see that there is also an order trail tab in this module. If we open it, we see that all the same related transactions can be viewed from here as well.
