What's new with Paragon - April 3, 2018

New features and bug fixes every two weeks. Come back here to check out what's new.

Units of measure conversions - Phase 2

During the last update, we brought you the first phase of our units of measure conversions. Behold - phase two of this feature. We had already included a list of standard units of measure with the confirmed conversion rates.  We have now added the ability to create your own units of measure and their associated conversion rates.

Paragon will now automatically convert any units received into inventory from a purchase order if the unit of measure employed on the transaction line differs from the unit of measure that is found on your product or material reference screens.  No pesky calculator is needed - Paragon does it all for you.  As soon as the PO is received, the inventory is updated with the unit of measure in the reference screen and the number units received are converted for you by the system.  Journal entries are also automated to reflect the correct inventory values based on this conversion.

Say, for example, that you are purchasing fabric from Southeast Asia in metres because your vendor tracks their product that way. Your manufacturing is done in the US so it is recorded in yards. You also keep track of your inventory in yards. Paragon lets you issue a purchase order in metres and then automatically converts the incoming fabric to the equivalent quantity in yards. The amount of material that is used in manufacturing is recorded in yards and therefore the costing and journal entry use yards as their inputs.

European banking and payment options

Expanding your business to Europe?  No worries - Paragon has you covered.  For anyone using the European banking system, we have added new standard payment options to our recommended attributes. Options like iDeal, PIN and Paypal have been added to the payment types available in financial transactions.
