New features and bug fixes every two weeks. Come back here to check out what's new.
Import and export product BOM
You might be familiar with our tool called the universal translator (UT). The UT allows you to export large amounts of data from Paragon, make changes or additions and then import everything back in. The point of this tool is to eliminate as much manual work as possible. For this reason, we added the ability to upload your product bill of material specifications through the UT. This eliminates the long, tedious process of adding each line one by one.
Import and export line attributes of transactions
With our last update we brought you functionality that allows you to assign attributes, or fields of information, to transaction lines. This feature is particularly helpful if you want to track information on a transactional level that is not the same for every item on the transaction. We have since added the ability to use this feature through our import and export tool, the UT. Now you can import and export all the detailed information about your transaction lines to and from Paragon with ease.
Rules engine connected associated attribute setup
If you use payment terms with discounts and due dates to collect money from your customers, you will find this feature extremely useful. When you set up a discount terms code, like '2% 10 net 30', the rules engine can now use the discount, discount date and final date of this terms code to automatically calculate the dollar discount on an invoice that the customer would receive if they paid within the payment due date. If the payment is collected outside the time frame, the rule will ensure that you are also collecting the correct amount.
Activate and deactivate attribute values
There are six types of attributes in Paragon, one of which is a 'list to choose from'. This attribute gives you a drop-down list of all the options that can be chosen. But let's say that some day one of the options becomes invalid. Thanks to this new feature you can control what options are displayed in the drop-down list by activating and deactivating the options with a simple checkbox.
Customize inventory module list view
The list view of any module in Paragon is completely customizable. This means that you can choose what columns are displayed. We have added this functionality to the inventory module, which means that you can configure the list view to show whatever information is relevant to you. This may be useful to see the inventory values at a glance in the list view instead of opening every record one by one.
Add money attributes to business terms section
The 'business terms' of a reference module or transaction describe the most important information about the record you're on. Until now, you weren't able to put attributes that contained a currency in the business terms section.
Copy transactions
The copy function allows you to create a brand-new product, customer or vendor from an existing one. This saves a lot of time that would've been spent keying in information for your new product or customer, especially if it's very close to one that already exists. Now you can also do the same to transactions. This is particularly useful if you create standard quotes and send them out, or place the same complicated order to the same vendor every month. Not only does this save you time, but it eliminates the possibility of data entry errors that could be costly.
Customer history and customer statement report
The customer history report shows you a complete picture of the customer's transactions. The statement, on the other hand, allows you to send out a summary of the invoices and credits that the customer owes, along with payments made over a specific period of time. While these reports use the same data, the format is different, which is why we thought it was important to include both in the reports module.
Bugs
Here's a list of little bugs we exterminated with this update:
- Forget/reset password twice creates unknown credentials, then cannot login
- Importing an attribute value discount as 'discount%' makes users unable to login
- Inventory list view shifted to the left
- Discrepancy in inventory valuation
- CSS issues in bank reconciliation window
- Creating a vendor invoice from multiple receipts results in multiple transactions being created
