What's new with Paragon - June 23, 2020

New features and bug fixes every two weeks. Come back here to check out what's new.

Brand new, enhanced, attribute panel

When we said we were working on some exciting stuff... we meant it! Over the past few weeks, we've completely overhauled the attribute panel that appears in all modules. Here's the big reveal!
When you're using the new panel for the first time, keep an eye out for:
  1. Increased performance of switching records, editing, saving and creating new transactions or references.
  2. The ability to search on any character to locate a drop-down value - not just the first characters.
  1. Tabbing! Backwards and forwards, forwards and backwards. Hint: Use shift+tab to navigate back fields.
?
  1. An on focus indicator - when you have selected a value, you'll know based on the orange outline.

  1. Multiple values for the same attribute are now grouped together. Paragon allows you to add the same attribute more than once to a record. That's useful in a few scenarios, such as a customer having more than one phone number. Instead of being added separately, the phone numbers are now added as groups of values under the same attribute name.

Filter attributes value lists in the new attribute panel

In February, we added the functionality to filter attributes based on the value of a business card attribute. This is extremely helpful as it can prevent bad data entry - if you don't want users to accidentally create a bathing suit in a winter season collection, this is a feature you need. With this update, we've expanded this functionality to include attributes in the attribute panel. The example below illustrates how you might use attribute filtering. The company in the example sells dresses all year long but only sells bathing suits during the summer.

As shown, the attribute season only allows the user to select the seasons that are appropriate for the product group selected. Here's how to set up attribute filtering if you're interested.

Print customized RMA reports

Paragon allows you to create your own custom PDF outputs for transactions and references. We have now added this function to the RMA module, so every transaction printout in Paragon can be easily customized through the report template editor. This means that your PDFs will look and print exactly how you want them to easily, without having to know how to code or outsource their creation. Like all the existing templates, you can generate the PDF from the RMA module using an action button.

Fun fact: You can also email the report directly from Paragon.

Use Amazon and Shopify together with Paragon

Are you selling products on both Amazon and Shopify? The action buttons for both platforms will now show up on their respective e-commerce page. This makes it much easier to know which actions you are triggering.

Run more complex rules on triggers

Rules allow you to change Paragon's standard functionality, either through automation or validation. Some of these rules can be triggered to run before or after things are done in Paragon. For example, you can run a rule before you create an order to check if a customer has enough credit. 'Before creating an order' is known as the trigger, and 'does the customer have enough credit?' is the rule.

The rules engine is a very useful tool that allows for the development of these rules, but doesn't offer as much flexibility as developing in a language like Javascript. However, one of the benefits of using the rules engine used to be the ability to run rules on specific triggers. With this update, a partner or our Services team can develop complex rules that will help you run your business and deploy them on triggers.

Don't forget that you can always reach out to Jonar's Services team if you would like more information about rules at support@paragon-erp.com .

Bugs

Here's a list of the bugs we've eliminated with this update:

  1. Chrome autofill no longer interacts with business terms in references and transactions.
  2. BOM view options always work even after editing and saving the summary form.
  3. GL Setup is respected when referencing an Item for Receipt/Adjustments.
  4. Rounding issues no longer block completing transactions.
  5. When you have a free-flow number attribute in the 5th or 6th position in Quote business terms, numbers no longer display linked values.
  6. Make Payment action button no longer displays on temp vendor invoices.
  7. Balance sheet now showing correct amounts.
