What's new with Paragon - June 28, 2016

New features and bug fixes every two weeks. Come back here to check out what's new.

Here's what we've been working on to make ParagonERP work better for you.

Features and Improvements

Sometimes semi-finished products are produced and then used as inputs for finished products, which are then sold to customers. To accommodate this style of production, BOMs can now be created for both materials and products and these materials can then be added to the BOM of a product. If you replicate this setup and select tree view in the BOM of the product, you'll be able to see both the BOM of the product and the BOM of the semi-finished product in one screen.

During the last update, we added a blue arrow to transaction lines in order to indicate that the line contained either a note or discount. However, this blue arrow only displayed while in inquiry mode. With this update, it will also appear in edit mode.

When you create a transaction for a specific customer or vendor, it's useful for information from the customer file to automatically populate on the transaction. For example, if an order is created for a customer, the payment terms stored on the customer file should automatically transfer onto the order. With this update, you'll be able to decide what information from your customer or vendor files automatically transfers onto particular transactions.

A lot of the time, different customers are charged different prices. We understand that, which is why you can add this information to the associated tab of any product or customer. In the past, these associations needed to be added manually. But now, we've created a tool that uploads these associated values directly into Paragon from a spreadsheet, which can speed up your implementation time.

Bugs

Modules in Paragon are divided into two categories: reference and transaction. As an example, reference modules include customer, product and vendor; transaction modules include order, invoice and PO. The area at the top left hand corner of all reference modules is called the business card. Any field you choose can be displayed there, for example, 'price.' In the past, when a dollar value was added to the business card, the currency symbol did not display. This has been corrected.

When you save a payment, Paragon automatically creates a transaction ID for you. There was a bug that added a '_P' to the end of every transaction ID that was generated. We've corrected this and transaction IDs are now all numerical values.

On any screen in Paragon, the right-hand column is called the favorites bar. In the future, you'll be able to right-click on the favorites bar and configure it to your liking. While we are working on building this functionality, we have removed the option to right-click on the favorites bar.

In any journal entry, the 'reason' field is filled with a black background. We've corrected this and the field is consistent with the rest of the software.

In any transaction module (see explanation for reference and transaction modules in point 1), the horizontal bar of fields is called the summary reference field. You can choose whatever values you'd like to display there. We found a bug that was causing these fields to display incorrect titles. This has been corrected.
