Getting started with Paragon

Introduction

Now that you've signed up for Paragon and received your build, you're probably wondering what's next.

This article explains everything you need to know to get up and running with Paragon.

Getting to know Paragon

Before you start setting things up, we suggest that you read this list of documents. By understanding the basic concepts that we used to build Paragon, your setup process will be easier and more enjoyable:

  1. What are attributes and attribute values?
  2. What are associations?
  3. How the home screen works
  4. How do transaction screens work?

Test Mode

When starting off with Paragon, it is recommended to spend time exploring the system through Paragon's test mode. You can think of test mode as your playground to learn the system.  Once you have completed the tutorial, you can always reset test mode - which will replace the test mode data with data from your live system.
To learn more about accessing and using test mode, take a look at our article How to use the test mode manager

To-do list

This is your to-do list. Once it is complete, you'll be set up and ready to use Paragon. If you encounter any issues along the way, you can reach out to us by emailing your question to support@paragon-erp.com.

Login  to Paragon
If you want to change the password you got in your Paragon welcome email, go for it.

My Company info
Every system requires default settings to ensure that at least the very minimum functionality is ready to go. Paragon is no exception and we invite you to explore the My Company  module to help get you off on the right foot.

Attributes

This is where you decide what fields of information you want on your products, orders, customers and every other module in Paragon. It's completely up to you what each field is called! Make sure you plan this process adequately as you will need specific attributes when uploading data.

  1. Set up attribute with a list to choose from
  2. Set up date attribute
  3. Set up on/off attribute
  4. Set up money and currency attribute
  5. Set up free flow text and number entry attribute

Transaction and Reference screens

  1. How do transaction screens work - here we explain how to navigate your transaction screens so you know where to find the sections you need in the set up screen.
  2. Set up your reference screens. This step tells you how to take your fields of information created in attribute setup and add them to the corresponding screens.

Accounting
  1. Set up accounting parameters
    1. Set up taxes
    2. Set up exchange rates
    3. Set up fiscal periods
    4. Set up GL accounts
    5. Set up GL links

Locations and references

  1. Set up locations (only if you have more than one location, or if you want to divide your warehouse into different areas, phases, etc.)
  2. Enter your data
    1. We suggest you start by manually creating a few products, customers and materials.
    2. Once you've done this, you can use the universal translator to mass upload the rest of your data.

Users and security

  1. Set up security profiles
  2. Create new users and give them access to Paragon
