Setting up UoM conversion rates
Introduction
Let's say you're an apparel company. You might buy your material in one unit of measure, and cut it in another. Or, perhaps you're a bakery and purchase your raw materials in kilograms and sell/use it in grams. Whatever the case, ParagonERP lets you manage your conversion rates easily and reliably.
Here, we'll walk you through setting up conversion rates for different units of measure in Paragon.
Set up your units of measure (UoMs)

Before you go any further, the first thing you're going to want to do is make sure your unit of measure list is set up.
Select your conversion rates
From any screen in Paragon, click the settings button.

From the settings screen, select unit of measure conversions from the system card.

From this screen, you'll be able to enter your conversions. First click the edit button. Then, click the add new button. You'll now be able to select the two units of measure from drop lists in the blank fields, and then enter the conversion rate.

Here's a sample of some conversion rates for some common units of measure.

Seeing the conversion rates in action
The unit of measure conversion will happen when you receive items or stock in a certain unit of measure, but keep inventory in a different unit of measure. In this example, we will receive the giant robot product in boxes, but keep its inventory in eaches.
First, you must set the unit of measure you would like inventory of the product to be kept in. This is set in the product module. In our example, we have set the unit of measure attribute to eaches on the giant_robo product screen.

Next, make sure you have set up the correct unit of measure conversion.

In order to receive in a certain unit of measure, you must add the unit of measure attribute on the line item in the receipt. To do this, go to the screen setup page for receipts and click the view line attributes button to add the unit of measure attribute.

Once added, click the accept button and save your changes.

Create a receipt with unit of measure
You can create a receipt from a purchase order, work order, RMA, or shipment. You can also create it manually.
The unit of measure will be found on the receipt lines. To add the attribute, right click the line item and click edit line attributes. You can then add the unit of measure attribute.

If you create a receipt from another transaction, you can set up attribute inheritance so that the unit of measure attribute of the line item is carried over onto the receipt from the initial transaction.
Issue and complete the receipt from the action button.

All the inventory received for the product will then be converted to the unit of measure in the product screen.
