How to add items using the advanced tab

How to add items using the advanced tab

Introduction to the advanced tab

Do you have multi-dimensional items that are much easier to use if you can enter all variations at once instead of selecting one SKU at a time? The advanced tab in the new item modal allows you to do just that.  The simplest example of this is items that are sold or purchased by size and color (like clothing). Most of the time items of the same styling but in various colors or sizes will be all together on a transaction, therefore it is more efficient to be able to add, remove, or edit these grouped items all at the same time.

Please note that this feature is not available in the pick nor the material pick modules.

To take advantage of this feature, the SKUs in question must be configured as pivot items and the pivot feature must be activated through the my company screen as shown below.  You can also have this tab selected by default.

Features of the advanced tab

  1. Select multiple SKUs at once via the pivot description in select items drop list
  2. Fill units by size
  3. Change price for all SKUs in one line
  4. Add or change line discounts for all SKUs in one line
  5. Add or change line attachments for all SKUs in one line
  6. Add attachments for all lines
  7. Add notes for all lines
  8. Pictures are displayed from reference modules. If different images are available for each size, they can be seen by cycling through the images with the arrow under the picture
  9. Inheritance from reference modules is respected

Adding multiple items with the advanced tab

To get started, go to add items to your transaction as normal but navigate to the advanced tab. Here you are met with a drop-down list of items that can be used with the advanced tab.

Please note - the drop list field will show "no values available" until you click into it and start typing:

Choose the item you want to start with first.

After choosing your first item you can choose the quantities on the left. As an example, apparel products may come in multiple sizes. With the advanced tab you can select a number of options while adding multiple lines. Your attributes and pricing can also be changed. These will take effect for all products in your selection. The blue button on the right is your line discounts but more on that later!

After filling out your details, you have two ways to proceed. Clicking the accept button will add your products to the transaction grid and you will return to the transaction screen. To add more items, click the accept and continue button. This will save your previous addition and reset the advanced tab. You can repeat this as many times as you want!

Once the line info is filled and the accept button is clicked, all SKUs are added to the transaction at once. If at any time you want to stop entering and cancel your changes, you can hit the cancel button.

Adding line discounts

Now we come back to the blue button! When you are filling out your line info, click the line discount button on the right hand side and it will load the discount modal.

From here you can adjust or add any line discounts you have set up and these will be applied to your current selection.

Adding notes and attachments

Adding notes is very simple with the advanced tab, the note pad is right in the middle. Just click on the pad to start typing, no need to save as the notes will be attached after you accept your items.
To add attachments, just click the blue attachments icon under your product image. This will load the attachments modal where you can upload any extra files or images, or attach a URL.

Viewing line discounts and attachments

After you have added your items to your transaction, you can view, edit or remove any line discounts or attachments you have added. To view these options, save your transaction so you are no longer in edit mode and make sure your transaction grid is in pivot mode. To do this, click the pivot icon on the left of the grid.

This will change the view of your transaction grid. Here you can see that your products have been condensed to one line, as they would look in the advanced tab. To view your attachments and discounts, simply double click one of your lines to open the advanced tab view only modal.

From here, you can navigate just the same as the advanced tab without the option to edit. To view your attachments, click attachments and to view your discounts, click the line discounts button.

Edit line discounts and attachments

To edit line discounts and attachments you have already added through the advanced tab, you can follow the same process to view but make sure the transaction is in edit mode. Just hit the edit button before double clicking your chosen line.

After double clicking your line in edit mode, the edit line details modal will load up. You can navigate around the same as the advanced tab, adding or adjusting attachments and line discounts as you please.
